Empyrean Vex dresses Vex in a black-and-crimson robe threaded with iridescent orange and purple lines and jagged spikes on her ears and cloak.
In game, the skin replaces the usual greys and muted purples with deep pinks, reds, and cyans.
Q (Mistral Bolt) sends Vex's companion, Shadow, in the form of a purple-yellow creature with ears and a blast wave in front of him.
W (Personal Space) pulses with a pink-yellow neon glow. The shield is circular with small cat ears at the top.
E (Looming Darkness) spawns a circular zone with a big neon yellow toothy smile.
R (Shadow Surge) throws Shadow at the target in the form of a purple-pink shape. When the projectile hits, it transforms into a huge monster that spreads its claws to devour the target. Upon arrival, it spawns green and purple particles around the target with neon yellow claw marks.
The skin includes a custom recall animation where Vex first spawns a portal, then drains the entire "energy" from it, turning it gray, and goes through. There are no other new animations or changes to existing ones—it follows the base skin.
Empyrean Vex ties directly into the Empyrean skinline by mixing celestial, jewel-like energy with dark shadow effects rather than referencing a real-world medium or a pop-culture joke.
Chromas:
Release date: March 11, 2022.
No major updates or reworks have been recorded since its launch
Empyrean is a neon-tinged alternate-universe skinline built around the Foreglow, a volatile cosmic flame that transforms survivors into otherworldly Empyreans. The aesthetic pairs bright neon particles, crystalline accents, and level-based visual upgrades on some champions.
The universe includes the main Empyrean skins and collectible variants like Prestige Empyrean. Many Empyrean skins also ship with multiple chromas and occasional level 2 upgrades.
In lore, the Foreglow destabilized and collapsed realms, creating Empyreans — powerful, burning versions of champions. Pyke is the first Empyrean, while Malzahar styles himself the Voice of the Foreglow, preaching its fever across dimensions.
Trivia: Most Empyrean skins are 1350 RP (epic), with a few at 1820 RP (legendary). Several champions received level 2 appearance or extra lines as part of the set.
If Empyrean Vex is treated like the Heavenscale/Empyrean theme, it would be an Epic skin priced at 1350 RP. Epic skins that are sold for RP and still appear in the shop are considered common in collector terms. Semi-rare and rare tags apply to skins that are locked behind events, discontinued, or were once very expensive. Ultra-rare skins were tied to IRL events or very short sales windows and are no longer obtainable.

Hextech crafting can drop shards for normal and epic skins that are obtainable in the shop. Anything above mythic rarity (special event, prestige, or unique tokens) is not available via Hextech crafting. Mythic-only items and some prestige items cannot be obtained from Mystery Gifts either. If you prefer to skip loot, verified accounts are available: Buy LoL Accounts.
Empyrean Vex is a solid skin, especially considering how few skins the champion has. At the time of writing, she has only 3 skins in total. Especially after release, there wasn't much to choose from, with the Dawnbringer thematic not fitting her completely.
When you consider this and look at the chromas this one has, the conclusion is easy: Empyrean Vex is still the best skin you can buy for the champion. Will that change? It remains to be seen.
Rating: 8/10 — It's a solid skin but nothing groundbreaking. Empyrean Vex aims for a calm, celestial style with unique particles.
