The League of Legends 2025 Worlds Championship is just around the corner, with exciting new shakeups to the format. In October, 17 teams will gather in China to face each other for the highest LoL prize, the Summoner's Cup.
Here is all we know about the upcoming tournament so far:
When and Where Is Worlds 2025?
The 2025 League of Legends World Championship will run from October 14, 2025 through November 9, 2025.
Worlds 2025 Counter
Worlds 2025 is heading to China, one of League of Legends’ most passionate and competitive regions. This will be a multi-city event, with different stages of the tournament held in various Chinese cities, each with its own esports venue:
Beijing - Play-Ins and Swiss Stages (October 14)
The opening Play-In match and the Swiss Stage will be held in Beijing at the state-of-the-art Beijing Smart eSports Center.
Shanghai - Knockout Stage (October 15 to October 25)
The Knockout Stage (quarterfinals and semifinals) then moves to Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena.
Chengdu - Finals (November 9)
Finally, the World Championship will conclude in Chengdu. The Worlds 2025 Grand Final will take place at Chengdu’s Dong’an Lake Sports Park Multifunctional Gymnasium on November 9.
Worlds 2025 Format
Worlds 2025 will be receiving several restructuring changes to its format, including Fearless Draft and two new competitive regions. Make sure to check our updated World Championship Format Explained article for all the nitty-gritty details. However, as a summary:
- This will be the first Worlds Championship to be played with Fearless Draft, a system where teams cannot play the same champions twice within the same best-of series.
- Two new regions, LTA and PCS, were merged from smaller competitive scenes in the Americas and Oceania. They each have three seeds in the championship.
How to Watch Worlds 2025
Riot will stream all matches live on Twitch, YouTube, and the official LoL Esports website. Streams feature casters in multiple languages, and Riot typically partners with regional broadcasters for localized coverage.
Co-streaming and broadcast partners are expected to be available again in 2025, which allow approved content creators to broadcast matches with their own commentary and casting. Match VODs are generally uploaded to YouTube and the LoL Esports VOD hub within hours of being played out.
Worlds 2025 Tickets and Attendance Info
The 2025 venues for Worlds will all be in China, featuring Beijing Smart Esports Center, the Shanghai Mercedes-Benz Arena, and Chengdu's Dong'an Lake Sports Park Gymnasium, with ticket sales expected to open in staggered waves as each stage approaches. Pricing will vary by city and seating tier.
Based on 2024 pricing patterns in South Korea, early Swiss Stage tickets are likely to start from the equivalent of $15–25 USD for standard seats, with Knockout Stage tickets in premium arenas ranging from $40–100 USD. Finals tickets are usually the most expensive, expected to exceed $150 USD.
All ticket sales will be managed through local authorized vendors, with links provided on the official LoL Esports site. For live attendance, Riot typically enforces bag policies, identification requirements, and restrictions on cameras or large signs.
Teams and Standings
A total of 17 teams from various regional leagues will qualify to compete at Worlds this year. Because Worlds 2025 is the capstone of the season, teams must earn their spot through performance in their regional competitions (such as the LCK in Korea, LPL in China, etc.) or via international events like MSI.
At the time of writing, the full lineup of teams has not been finalized. Regional summer playoffs and finals in August/September 2025 will determine most of the participants. However, we already know how many slots each region gets:
- One seed for the MSI 2025 champion (Gen.G),
- Three seeds for Korea (TBA): The LCK 2025 champion, runner-up and third place,
- Three seeds for China (TBA): The LPL 2025 champion, 2025 Regionals champion and the team with the highest Championship Points aside from those two,
- Three seeds for the Americas (TBA): The LTA 2025 champion, runner-up and third place,
- Three seeds for Europe/Middle East/Africa (TBA): The LEC Summer Playoffs 2025 champion, runner-up and third place, and
- Three seeds for Asia/Pacific (TBA): The LCP Season Finals Playoffs 2025 champion, runner-up and third place.
