Arcane Season 2: Partners in Love and in War

Season 2 of Arcane explored Vi and Caitlyn’s relationship with more depth and nuance than ever before. After Cassandra Kiramman’s death, Caitlyn and Vi clash over ideals and obligations. Caitlyn embraces her family legacy and takes the reins of House Kiramman, asking Vi to join the Enforcers. Vi rejects this, refusing to betray her Zaunite roots. Yet, even in estrangement, the emotional tether between them remains intact.

Despite setbacks — including Vi spiraling into underground fight clubs and Caitlyn forging a bond with fellow Enforcer Maddie — their relationship ends then reignites when Caitlyn helps Vi infiltrate Ambessa’s camp under the guise of betrayal.
Their reconciliation climaxes in a passionate kiss and pretty explicit intimacy inside Caitlyn’s bunker cell after Jinx escapes. It's a little fanservice-y.

Okay, it's really fanservice-y.

Season 2 doesn’t idealize their relationship. It portrays the real strain war and trauma can place on intimacy. Vi questions Caitlyn’s alliances, and Caitlyn nearly loses herself in vengeance. They lie to each other, fight, and ultimately choose to reconnect despite it all. And when they do, it’s on equal footing, rather than as a cop and a prisoner on parole.

In a genre that often sidelines or flattens queer relationships, Arcane treats Vi and Caitlyn as complex people shaped by loss, legacy, and love. Arcane Season 2 gives their relationship weight, showing that love endures, even in war.
