League of Legends has captivated millions of players worldwide with its gameplay and extensive character customization. Ever since Riot Game officially became Riot Games with the launch of new games such as Wild Rift and Legends of Runeterra, the issue of connectivity between platforms has come into question.
In here we'll address common queries surrounding account usage, creation, transferability, and the evolution of cosmetic options between League of Legends and its mobile counterpart, Wild Rift.
In November of 2023, Riot officially phased out summoner names in exchange for Riot IDs, which are shared through different games in the Riot Launcher. Wild Rift, however, is a different game in the Riot Launcher, and progress in League of Legends will not translate over to Wild Rift. Although both games are linked to Riot accounts, which serve as a centralized hub for player data and progression, the accounts themselves are separate entities, with progression and purchases isolated within their respective games.
Creating a Wild Rift account is a straightforward process. Upon launching the game for the first time on mobile, players are prompted to sign in on an existing Google Play, Apple, Facebook or Riot Games account or create a new one. To create an account, users need to provide a valid email address and create a password. Once the account is created, players can start their journey in Wild Rift, progressing through levels and unlocking various features as they play.
If you want to log in via the Riot Games account, but don’t have one, you can follow these steps to create a new one:

As of the current state of the game, Wild Rift does not offer an account transfer feature. This means that progression, including unlocked champions, skins, and other cosmetic items, is tied to the specific platform on which the account was created. It’s unlikely that Riot Games may consider implementing such a feature in the future to accommodate players who wish to switch devices or consolidate their progress across multiple platforms.
However, Riot Games does distribute in-game rewards to players from South Korea and Japan for logging in using a preexisting Riot Games account.
While League of Legends and Wild Rift share the same universe and many of the same champions, their cosmetic items are completely different and are not shared between accounts. Each game has its own unique selection of skins and champions, with some differently priced or outright exclusive to either platform. Therefore, skins and champions purchased or unlocked in one game cannot be transferred or accessed in the other.
Along with mechanical changes to streamline the mobile gaming experience, Wild Rift introduces several cosmetics that are unique to the platform, ranging from standard skins to glorious legendary skins. Moreover, Wild Rift also has Wild Passes. Simply put, each Pass is an opportunity for players to earn extra content by playing games. Passes have their own leveling tracks and rewards, which include content like currencies, emotes, and even an exclusive skin.
Upon registering to Wild Rift, the Riot Launcher creates a Riot ID, even if you registered using Google Play, Apple or Facebook, which means you can use the Riot Account Recovery site to recover your account details. If you need further help, refer to our Account Recovery Guide.
Having trouble logging in doesn't necessarily mean you need to recover your account. Here are a few common issues to consider first.
Capslock isn't just a great way to get banned for yelling at your teammates; it's also awesome at messing up your credentials! Double-check that you're entering the correct information, especially if you own multiple accounts.
Check the Server Status for your game of choice before writing in if you're confident in your credentials.
Generally, permanently banned accounts cannot be recovered. Riot Games is very firm on this policy, as you are solely responsible for anything that happens with your account, and generally will not be lenient towards you. However, if your account has been compromised or you believe the punishment is unjust, you can discuss game bans with Riot Games Support. To do so, refer to the following post: Can You Unban a LoL Account?
