Good old Gemstones. Near impossible to collect all 10 for a set, the majority of players have not even seen a Hextech skin in-game, let alone own one! These rare gemstones are used to create some of the most epic champion and ward skins in the game! But recently Riot decided to overhaul the entire system in an attempt to make them easier to keep track of, and allow you to make purchases with your stones in a more organized manner. Now you may have recently logged in to find that your gemstones are all missing! Relax Thanos, your power gem collection has just been converted into Mythic Essence!
Let me quickly explain what exactly Mythic Essence does for you, and why these changes should be welcome with open arms! It is now a new combination currency that is created by merging your old gemstones and prestige points. Any gemstones saved have been converted over to this new essence at a 1-10 ratio. So don't worry, you can still spend them and there are even more purchase options than before!
The Prestige Points and Gemstones were converted to Mythic Essence at a 1 to 10 ratio. The Prestige Points have officially been retired while each Gemstone has automatically been converted at your ease.
Additionally, for anyone playing at the exact release of these changes a 10 Mythic Essence welcoming gift will be provided to all players and expires on May 2, 2022.
Lucky the updates and changes to gemstones that converted them into Mythic Essence have been nothing but an upgrade, sort of. Although we now have a much easier to use interface, more purchase options, and some well-needed upgrades to skins it comes at a trade-off. The new Mythic Skins will be listed at 100ME upon release, and these releases are cycled every 3 months. Don't worry! If you can't hit your ME quota for the month to grab that sweet skin you wanted, it will still be available but at a slightly increased price of 125ME after that rotation has finished. Legacy mythic skins such as Hextech Annie and Amumu will still be available in the shop and cost 100ME when they are cycled back for their unvault.
Prestige skins will only appear in the Mythic Shop after a year of their original release. They'll cost 125 ME the first time they're offered in the Mythic Shop, 150 ME on the second, and 200 ME if they've been unvaulted three or more times. These special prestige skins are in most cases limited edition skins that were released during events or limited offering sales and so nobody misses out on an opportunity to own them; they are frequently cycled back into the shop. So keep an eye out for your favorites!
Some fantastic prestige skins to keep an eye out for on rotation include Fuzz Fizz, Space Groove Lulu, Coven Leblanc, Spirit Blossom Teemo, and Arcade Caitlyn are some of the best designed and most beautiful skins in the game.
The Mythic Skins and all other accessories will be rotated once every 3 months. It's super important to do your research and due to the rarity of Mythic Essence cherry pick and plan what skin you want to purchase upon it's unvaulting! Repeat unvaultings will only increase the price and keep your grind for Myhetic Essence going even longer.
The Mythic Store has the following delights for you to choose from. They have been divided into two classes:
Mythic Skins and Accessories under a general Rotation
Moreover, there are Prestige Skins that are in the Mythic Store as well. The following list of Prestige Skins will be present in the shop for choosing:
EXCLUSIVE COMMEMORATIVE EDITIONS OF PRESTIGE SKINS
Don’t fret veteran skin collectors, Riot has recognized the sweat and tears that you had put into getting the original prestige skins. They definitely required a higher investment back in 2018 and 2019, and Riot, having recognized this and has decided to gift Commemorative Prestige Skins to players owning the Original Prestige Skin before patch 12.5. Commemorative Prestige skins will never be available via shops, loot, or rerolls.
I will happily be the first to say that the vast majority of Prestige Skins were complete garbage. I'm talking League from 8 years ago, graphics garbage. These were discount skins with some gold dust thrown on top and a poor excuse for anything with the name Prestige in it. Thankfully Riot heard my crying, and the coherent complaints of the community and have been working hard to upgrade the thematic layers of prestige skins, they are hoping to make them extravagant and give them visual overhauls to truly reward players who own them!
These will be coupled with brand new splash arts for those skins that should elevate their prestige to a whole new level.
Back in the day, we had to purchase bundles and complete a bunch of missions to get a specified amount of Prestige Points. It was alright overall, but still not too alluring to anyone. With the upcoming changes, Riot has removed that problem in a pretty neat way. Loot showcase events such as the PROJECT 2021 bundle are switching from Prestige Point bundles to a progressive reward system.
Think of this as an unlock line that allows you to grind and earn those previously obtainable skins and goodies without having to shell out for them. Do keep in mind any specialty skins that would have been released for Prestige Points will now be cycled in with the previously mentioned Mythic Shop system and be vaulted once those showcases end. That means they will eventually be unvaulted and up for purchase in the future but they will be at a higher rate.
Riot did shed some light on the new system stating that “A showcase milestone track is designed to match the same amount of loot you would've had to buy to earn 100 Prestige Points through capsule bundles in 2021, but with a bunch of extra loot, rewards attached. We'll share more info on Showcase rewards tracks when they launch!”.
You will now also have access to a Masterwork Milestones system. These are repeatable and will allow you to collect plenty of Masterwork Chests. All Masterwork chests count toward this track no matter how one obtained them and they will also have an updated loot table.
After an extremely long wait, Riot is finally looking to upgrade and change the way their Event Pass works. The goal is to reward players with games that will translate into XP. This XP will progressively open up milestones that will give access to rewards such as tokens and other goodies.
It's important to take note that XP boosts will work for this and expedite the milestone process!
There will be a 50-level rewards lineup with paid and free tracks:
Free event missions: Converted to free pass track rewards. Still includes 300 total tokens and an Event Orb, among other content. You'll earn all free rewards by level 30.
Pass token bank missions: Converted to paid pass track rewards at each level. After all 50 event pass levels, there's an infinitely repeatable "51st" level for pass holders that grants tokens.
Pass milestone missions: Converted to paid pass track rewards.
Pass weekly wins missions: Now grant XP instead of tokens. Stacks with First Win of the Day missions.
Free First Win of the Day missions: Earn pass XP for your first win (or 3 played matches) each day. Like the standard First Win mission, this is a use-it-or-lose-it model; you can't stack up multiple First Win missions.
Riot has also mentioned that the overall price of the passes will still remain the same. Event passes will still cost 1650 RP and include four Event Orbs and 200 Event Tokens. We're also keeping the 2650 RP bundle that includes the base skin of the event's Prestige, its border, and its icon.
