"Janna is the most skilled dragon in the kingdom at sorcery (save for the king himself, perhaps), whipping up winds and steering the clouds. The prince asked if she might take him on as a pupil, and Janna happily accepted; but she is looking forward to showing him more whimsical uses of their power. After all, they have a festival to attend."
Heavenscale Janna dresses the wind mage in ceremonial draconic finery. Her hair blends purple and pale yellow and is styled to flow like a gust, while jade horns and scaled trim signal her bond with dragons.
In game, the skin's VFX leans red and green with pale yellow highlights.
Q (Howling Gale) is now green-blue tinted and has two Chinese dragon heads orbiting the center.
W (Zephyr) is similar to Heavenscale Ezreal's Q and looks like a dragon head that bursts with light on impact.
E (Eye of the Storm) surrounds the target with a cyan shield that turns yellow after a second, with a red ribbon orbiting.
R (Monsoon) is framed by sweeping cloud particles that look like they're taken from ancient Chinese scrolls.
Sound effects were updated to feel more draconic and airy, and there is a custom recall where Janna floats over a cityscape with a dragon circling her. The skin keeps the base voice actor and dialogue but adds new SFX to match the visual theme.
Heavenscale fits a dragon-focused skinline, mixing celestial wind motifs with eastern-style dragon imagery rather than referencing any single real-world source.
Chromas are available in nine variants: Amethyst, Catseye, Emerald, Lustrous, Obsidian, Rose Quartz, Ruby, Sapphire, and Turquoise. Notable asset updates include new ability icons in V13.18 and a VFX refresh in V12.19; the splash art was updated in earlier patches.
Legacy Vault date: July 2, 2024 (skin moved to Legacy Vault and is not in the regular store).
No notable changes since release
Heavenscale is a Lunar New Year skinline that blends celestial dragon motifs with ceremonial regalia. Skins in this set dress champions as divine serpents or dragon-touched guardians. The look leans on flowing scale armor, inked cloud patterns, and warm festival colors with soft, shimmering VFX.
This universe is part of the broader Lunar New Year theme that also includes Dragon Lantern, Heavenscale, Lunar Beast, Lunar Revel, Lunar Revel: Firecracker, and Porcelain.
Lore-wise, Heavenscale champions act like celestial emissaries — proud, restrained, and tied to old dragon spirits that watch over festivals. Trivia: a Prestige or Divine variant appears in this line (for Ezreal and Lee Sin respectively), and some Heavenscale skins released during the same Lunar event in early February 2024.
Heavenscale Janna is a 1350 RP Epic skin. It is a standard RP purchase and not a one-time or legacy release. It can still be bought with RP when the vault opens, so by the rarity rules it’s considered Common. You can buy it usually during the Lunar Revel festival which mirrors IRL Lunar New Year in China, it's based on moon calendar so it's a moving holiday. If you want accounts with this skin already unlocked, check curated options here: Buy LoL Skin Accounts.
Yes. Because Heavenscale Janna is an RP-purchasable Epic skin, it can drop as a shard from Hextech chests and can be sent or received via Mystery Gift. Mythic and special token-only rewards (like Prestige or Divine) follow different rules and are not available from Mystery Gifts.
Heavenscale Janna is a clear visual upgrade with festival VFX and dragon motifs. However, Janna has so many high-quality skins—she's truly a fan favorite! Taking this into consideration, it's a solid skin but still middle of the pack for Janna.
What works well:
Rating: 8/10 — Sadly, there's nothing really extra in this skin that would justify a higher rating. Also, I'm pretty sure her W is a reused asset from Ezreal.
