Warring Kingdoms Jarvan IV information

Warring Kingdoms Jarvan IV dresses the Crown Prince as a Three Kingdoms warlord. He trades his blue Demacian plate for deep navy armor trimmed in bright gold, layered with red tassels and a dragon chestpiece. His spear becomes a jagged gilded polearm heavier and more ornate than the base weapon.

In game, his abilities glow with red particles accented with gold, giving a fire sparks feel. E plants a rich red-and-gold banner, Q carves a dark slash with a red sparks, W pulses a red shield, and R slams down with a red-black obsidian rock barrier.

No SFX changes because it’s one of the older epic skins. There is also no custom recall that’s standard in modern skins.

The skin launched for Lunar Revel and fits the Warring Kingdoms lineup, which nods to Romance of the Three Kingdoms and classic period dramas. It also includes extra quotes that reinforce the general persona. A Golden chroma exists if you want a brighter armor finish.

Skinline information

Warring Kingdoms is an alternate-universe thematic in League of Legends that reimagines champions as legendary emperors, generals, assassins, and heroes from a mythic age of rival dynasties. Battles of honor and mastery define the setting, with ornate armor, jade-and-gold accents, and festival-war motifs. Note: there are no official comics, shorts, or external lore developing this universe beyond the skin trailers, splash art, and in-game content. Skins may appear across other Riot titles (e.g., Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra), but only the League skins are linked below.

The skinline references the *Romance of the Three Kingdoms* (三国演义) — one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Books setting is in around 2nd–3rd century CE in the Three Kingdoms Period, however the skins’ name obviously reference the Warring Kindoms Period.

What’s more is that Jarvan IV is directly referencing the Lü Bu (吕布) one of the main character who fights with a halberd.

Here are some unique quotes from the chinese localization of League of Legends and how they reference the *Romance of the Three Kingdoms* (三国演义).

  • 能给本将军把赤兔牵来吗?
"Can you bring me the Red Hare?"
Reference: Red Hare (赤兔马) is Lü Bu’s legendary warhorse, often described as unmatched in speed and endurance. The novel immortalizes it with the phrase: “Among men, Lü Bu; among horses, Red Hare."
  • 尔等,将貂蝉藏于何处?
"Hey you, where did you hide Diaochan?"
Reference: Diaochan (貂蝉), one of the Four Beauties of China, plays a pivotal role in the novel. She creates a rift between Lü Bu and his adoptive father Dong Zhuo, leading to Dong Zhuo’s downfall.
  • 为何尔等看着方天画戟的眼神如此贪婪
"Why are you looking at the Fangtian Painted Halberd with such greedy eyes?"
Reference: The Fangtian Huaji (方天画戟) is Lü Bu’s iconic halberd, symbolizing his unmatched martial power in the novel.
  • 一骑当千!
"One rider is worth a thousand!"
Reference: This idiom reflects Lü Bu’s battlefield reputation as nearly invincible, capable of overwhelming thousands of troops single-handedly.
  • 看我神威,无坚不摧! / 所到之处,无人能挡!
"Behold my divine power, I am invincible!" / "Wherever I go, no one can stop me!"
Reference: These boastful lines dramatize Lü Bu’s fearsome presence in the novel, where he is consistently described as the strongest warrior of his time.
  • 高顺为援,出击!
"Gao Shun comes to the rescue and attacks!"
Reference: Gao Shun (高顺) was one of Lü Bu’s most loyal and skilled generals, known for commanding the elite “Trapped Camp" unit. His presence highlights Lü Bu’s brief military strength.
  • 布,生平不好斗,为好解斗。
"Bu has never been a fighter, he just likes to resolve fights."
Reference: A pun on Lü Bu’s name (布). It’s ironic, since Lü Bu is infamous in the novel for constant battles, betrayals, and violent clashes.

Connection to Romance of the Three Kingdoms:
In the novel, Lü Bu is portrayed as the fiercest warrior of the age — “Among men, Lü Bu; among horses, Red Hare" (人中吕布,马中赤兔). He is remembered for his betrayals (turning on Ding Yuan, Dong Zhuo, and others), his romance with Diaochan (partly fictionalized), and his unmatched martial skill. These quotes dramatize his arrogance, invincibility, iconic weapons and horse, his relationship with Diaochan, and ultimately the traits that led to both his fame and downfall.
